Credits are the standard unit of measurement for Kombai usage. The number of credits a task consumes depends on its complexity, length, and Agent Variant used. Credits are primarily consumed based on LLM tokens (used for tasks like planning and output generation) during active task processing. Actions like viewing completed tasks or previewing output in the browser do not consume credits. You will not be charged credits for tasks that fail due to a technical issue on our end. We are continuously working to optimize system efficiency to reduce the number of credits consumed per task.

Credit usage and Agent Variants

Agent Variants allow you to control the trade-off between performance (quality, capabilities, speed) and credit consumption. The variant you select applies a specific cost factor to the base credit usage of a task.
VariantCost FactorBest For
Ultra2xBest for hard tasks and deep reasoning. Uses Opus 4.6
High1x (baseline)Complex problem-solving and reasoning
Medium0.5xBalancing cost-efficiency with quality
Mini0.33xHigh-volume, low-complexity tasks
For example, a task that consumes 10 credits using the High variant would consume approximately 5 credits with Medium and 3.3 credits with Mini.
You can switch between Agent Variants in further conversations within the same chat to optimize credit usage for different stages of development.
